I asked my webhosting provider why sendmail service of my vps is not enabled when I logged in to the Power Panel. My host said the service is being enabled and can be stopped or restarted using WHM. Here’ s its complete reply.

For a cPanel server exim is the default MTA installed in the server which you can restart through ‘WHM >> Restart Services >> Mail Sever ( exim ) “. Please note there is a small conflict between cPanel and Virtuozzo Power Panel – VZPP expects to see default output from commands like “service service-name status”, etc. With WHM/cPanel, the status command output doesn’t match default OS format and as such VZPP fails to detect correct service status. In future please use the WHM restart service option for better results.
