One of my sites is hosted with Knownhost Webhosting for nearly two years now. Lately I’ve been encountering persistent downtime. I saw in the server status that server load is quite high. I cannot be the cause of this server overload since my site is not that busy. I wrote to Knownhost customer support team and this was their explanation to my query last week after I asked them if they could transfer my VPS webhosting account to a not-so-busy server.
Number of VPSs hosted on each machine varies depending on VPS sizes and overal load. We migrate accounts between physical machines all the time to balance the load. As of right now your VPS is hosted on the vz14-la machine where 23 other VPSs are currently running. The physical server doesn’t show any signs of possible problems at this time and if problem with the physical server should arise we’ll proactively take care of it.
What I like about Knownhost is its honesty. If there is a problem, they want you to know what they can do and what they can’t. They don’t try to be a hero for all situations.
