I remember last year the total number of domain names owned by Filipino webmasters is 23,000. Today it is already 30,000. Despite the increase, the figure remains a far cry to the United States’ 69 million domain names. At the very least, Internet activity in the Philippines holds a bright promise. I believe that as more Filipinos own a domain name, of course they would make a website upon those domains, and they need a reliable web hosting philippines.

A Philippine-based webhosting has its own advantages. Foremost is the fact that many Filipinos don’t own a Paypal account, let alone a credit card. If a newbie webmaster can avail of a webhosting service through paying at one of the local banks in the country, the website owner doesn’t need to deal with foreign-based companies who usually require a Paypal account or credit card for a transaction. Another advantage is that a Philippine-based webmaster can personally avail of a customer service with a Filipino touch. One doesn’t have to worry whether the webhosting company he is dealing with is bogus since the webmaster himself can verify whether the firm and the person behind it is a real person who can be contacted and located.

I would be happy to see more Filipinos getting their hands busy online with their own websites rather than burning their midnight candles on social networking sites. I feel that some Filipinos are spending too much time on these social networking sites when in fact they could have utilized their precious time to put up a make money blog, for instance.

Internet growth in the Philippines is expected to transform society. In the next 10 years, with an improved broadband services of the major telecos, more Filipinos would be aware of the potential of the Internet.
