I have an email that dates back in 1997, my first one actually. You know the good old days of Yahoo. This is the very email that built a myriad of relationships way back in college.

When Google Apps came, I abandoned my old Yahoo email and I started using a customized email with this format: info[at]myownname[dot]com. Thanks to Google. I was able to build a site on the main domain and several sites on its subdomains, yet my email need is catered by Google for free powered by Gmail’s capabilities.

My old Yahoo email was just sitting there. Lately I scanned my old inbox, and to my surprise I saw several personal emails that were sent to me many months ago. Some of these emails are really important. What a missed opportunity. I haven’t opened these emails. I have told several friends that I had changed email address, yet there are still people who forget your new email address and still use the old one.

Though I am using my new email most of the time, I still find my way back to the old Yahoo email just to check whether there is a really important email waiting untouched. It’s just annoying that my old Yahoo email is littered with SPAM messages.

How do you deal with people who always use your old email despite the fact that you’ve notified them of your new email?
